NIVREL Deep Ocean (new)

By TLex Whilst at the Basel fair I met with the lovely people from NIVREL, who were good enough to show me their latest divers model, the Deep Ocean. The new divers model comes shortly after an announcement made last year, that the production of their popular Deep Sea diver will be discontinued. Those of you who know the brand and their range of divers will have also been familiar with the Red Sea and South Sea. Some might have even had an encounter with NIVREL Shark Sea 3000m tourbillon, which incidentally I also got to have a look at.

NIVREL's Deep Ocean comes with the motto 'From the Sea to the Ocean'. Its unpretentious design might not be particularly groundbreaking or remarkable, but if fairness I don't think it's meant to. It is what is, a very nicely made German diver that comes with a very reasonable price tag. Stay tuned for further details on the new Deep Ocean . . .

2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

The Range Rover Sport might sound like a souped-up version of Land Rover's flagship SUV, but it's actually something entirely different. While it shares the Range Rover nameplate, it is actually smaller, less powerful, and less expensive.

First introduced as a 2006 model, the Range Rover Sport shares a platform with the LR4. The truck's exterior has been designed to look very similar to the larger Range Rover. With seating for five occupants, the Sport slots below the LR4 in terms of size, despite being pricier.

The Sport received a modest overhaul for the latest model year, yielding two new engine options and a number of exterior and interior refinements.

The vehicle can be ordered with either a 510 horsepower LR-V8 5.0-liter supercharged mill, or a 375 hp LR-V8 5.0 liter naturally aspirated engine. The new naturally aspirated vehicle can hit 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, while the supercharged variant takes just 5.9 seconds. Both LR-V8 engines are mated to the ZF HP28 six-speed automatic transmission.

The front brakes for the naturally aspirated vehicle are four-piston units mated to 14.2-inch ventilated front discs, while the rear brakes are single-piston units and with 13.8-inch rotors. The supercharged model sports 15-inch discs with six-piston calipers in the front, and 14.3-inch discs with single-piston calipers in the rear.

D.O.T. Watchworks DAGAZ ZERO (coming soon)

A Classic / Military series diver called 'DAGAZ-ZERO', which takes name its name from the notorious Japanese fighter-plane, the Mitsubishi Type Zero that wrought havoc on the U.S Navy's fleet during the 2nd World War. It uses the same case as the Tsunami, but is available, only with an automatic movement, the SEIKO NH25A and a with domed sapphire rather than super dome.
