ROLEX Submariner Ref. 5513 James Bond (to be auctioned)

By TLex James Bond's specially adapted Submariner, converted from a stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner has emerged on the market and will be sold by CHRISTIES Geneva as part of their Important Watches Sale 1383, Lot 182. The signed Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513, case# 2'683'776 was manufactured by Rolex in 1972 and then converted by the legendary production designer Syd Cain for use in the 1972 film 'Live and Let Die', where it was worn by James Bond (played by Roger Moore).



Of the special features customized by 'Q'; were an anti-magnetic field strong enough to deflect bullets yet gentle enough to unzip a dress worn by Miss Solitaire (played Jane Seymour), a buzz-saw feature adapted by cutting the bezel edges into sharp teeth, and then modified to rise to a maximum height. This feature was successfully used by Bond to cut Miss Solitaire and himself free and escape a pool of hungry sharks at Dr. Kananga's lair.



The Sale is on November 14th 2011. The watch is expected to reach between 200'000- 400'000CHF . . .
