Police have released images of the emergency services working at the scene of the horrendous fatal collisions on the M5 at Taunton.
With 34 vehicles involved, it has been a massive clean up operation but all vehicles have now been removed. However the intense fireswhich witnesses said shot flames up to 30 feet in the air, melted some of the wreckage into the road which will take more work to rectify and the exact time of re-opening the motorway is still uncertain.
Motorists have been respectful locally and looked for alternative routes.
Prayers have been said for the families at Taunton churches and many posts on Taunton Facebook sites have expressed sympathy for those in mourning and the injured.
The emergency services together with Musgrove Park Hospital and Yeovil District hospital have been praised for their hard work in dealing with the tragedy.
