JLC Memovox Tribute to Deep Sea 'US' Prototype Nº 1 Auction for Tides of Time

From JLC After the two very successful Tides of Time campaigns, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents its third online Auction, which will take place on 18th April, 2011 and once again the proceeds will be donated to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. This year the Manufacture is offering for Auction a limited-series watch in tribute to the legend of diver's watches: the Prototype Nº 1 of the Memovox Tribute to Deep Sea, "LeCoultre Spécial Amérique 1959" commemorative edition.

It reproduces an iconic piece belonging to Jaeger-LeCoultre's technical heritage, but unlike its predecessor it is the first diving watch ever to be equipped with an alarm and self-winding Calibre in a new size that reflects current trends. Introduced at the 2011 SIHH it incorporates all the latest developments in Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibres.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has a long-term partnership with UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the International Herald Tribune to help defend and protect outstanding marine sites that require immediate intervention. The Auction is a chance for watch lovers and collectors to participate in this worthy cause.

Jaeger-LeCoultre MC Diving SEALs Auto [Spied in FAST FIVE Movie]

By TLex Actor Paul Walker is wearing a JLC Master Compressor Diving 'Navy SEALs' Automatic in his latest Fast & Furious movie 'Fast Five'. The version that Paul can be seen wearing (just about) has a stainless steel case and is mounted on the JLC's articulated rubber divers strap [Ref. 2018770]. Credit goes to sharp-eyed Don of the DWC dive watch forum; and thanks to Adam for the image taken from his iPhone at the bottom of the post.

I have since had a bit of a poke about on the net to see if there were any better images or any further evidence as to Paul Walker's relationship with the watch. There were a couple of other screen shots from Fast Five, where (to the trained eye) he appeared to be wearing the watch, but whenever the shot dictated an angle that would have revealed a perfect wrist-shot, Paul was mysteriously without the watch. This was the same for a number of images that I saw on his Facebook page.
